Antrvm escancara a barbárie social com o novo EP "Social Death" e eleva o metal nacional ao limite

A banda paulista ANTRVM lançou no dia 31 de julho seu novo EP, Social Death, disponível em todas as plataformas digitais via Canil Records. Dando sequência à trilogia conceitual iniciada com o EP de estreia Defiler (2023), o novo trabalho mergulha de forma ainda mais brutal em temáticas sociais, combinando sonoridades extremas, letras contundentes e uma formação renovada que traz peso, modernidade e agressividade ao som do grupo.

​Com a chegada de Kevin Bosio (bateria) e Daniel Gava (guitarra), a ANTRVM passa a contar com uma formação forte e agressiva ao lado de Victor Cutrale (vocal), Victor Henrique (guitarra) e Bruno Nicolozzi (baixo). Essa nova configuração impulsionou uma evolução musical significativa.

​“Nesse EP focamos na brutalidade. Enquanto o 'Defiler' explorava temas sombrios, agora trouxemos elementos mais extremos que refletem o conceito de uma ‘morte social’. As guitarras e o baixo estão mais graves, a bateria com linhas modernas e o vocal muito mais extremo”, explica o guitarrista Victor Henrique.

​A temática de Social Death parte do ponto onde Defiler terminou, mas expande o olhar do individual para o coletivo. “Se o 'Defiler' era sobre o individualismo, agora abordamos o coletivo, essa sociedade doentia, guiada por ideologias distorcidas, pelo consumo humano no mercado de trabalho e pela disfunção nos núcleos familiares”, comenta Victor Cutrale, vocalista da banda.

Com letras afiadas, metáforas viscerais e uma produção sonora pesada à cargo de Brendan, o EP funciona como um retrato brutal da alienação social contemporânea.

A faixa de abertura, “Meat Dumplings”, é uma introdução executada por Yohan Kisser (ex-guitarrista da banda) e traz uma atmosfera folk mórbida, remetendo à ideia de uma família canibal — como numa versão sonora de O Massacre da Serra Elétrica. Na sequência, “The Way Of The Saw”, primeiro single e videoclipe extraído do EP, escancara a crítica à violência cotidiana e à hipocrisia de pessoas que escondem seus impulsos sob máscaras de normalidade.

​“Brincamos com a ideia de que psicopatas e pessoas horríveis vestem máscaras de normalidade. Quem desconfiaria do vizinho bonzinho?”, comenta Victor Henrique.

​O segundo single, “Sombria”, ganhou destaque por sua abordagem ousada: um paralelo entre a crueldade do mercado de trabalho e o preparo do prato francês Ortolan — onde uma pequena ave, também conhecida como Sombria, é afogada em conhaque, cozida e consumida inteira sob um véu de culpa. A sonoridade da faixa aposta em uma pegada mais cadenciada e groovada, sem perder a agressividade.

​“É essa nossa vida. Somos afogados por demandas profissionais, triturados pelas engrenagens do sistema até não sobrar mais nada”, explica Victor Cutrale.

​O EP ainda inclui “Deliverance”, que denuncia a tentativa humana de dominar a natureza em nome do lucro e de um falso progresso, e “(dis)Function”, uma dolorosa reflexão sobre abusos físicos e psicológicos dentro do ambiente familiar, onde relações tóxicas corroem a autoestima e perpetuam ciclos de violência.

​Social Death foi produzido pelo renomado produtor brasileiro Wagner Meirinho (Torture Squad, Scars, entre outros), mixado e masterizado pelo também aclamado produtor norte-americano Brendan Duffey — vencedor de diversos prêmios Grammy —, com a captação de bateria realizada por Adriano Daga e arte de capa assinada por Márcia Gava.

​Formada em 2020 por Victor Cutrale (ex-Furia Inc) e Victor Henrique, a ANTRVM mistura elementos de groove, thrash, death metal e metalcore, com forte influência do horror cinematográfico. Ao longo de sua trajetória, a banda já dividiu o palco com nomes como Project46, Imphuria e Hatematter, se firmando como uma das promessas mais intensas e viscerais do metal nacional.

‘Social Death’, the second part of a trilogy, dives into social themes, extreme sounds, and a new, even heavier lineup

On July 31st, São Paulo-based band ANTRVM released their new EP, Social Death, available on all digital platforms via Canil Records. Continuing the conceptual trilogy that began with their debut EP Defiler (2023), this new work dives even deeper into brutal social themes, combining extreme sonorities, hard-hitting lyrics, and a renewed lineup that brings weight, modernity, and aggression to the group’s sound.

With the addition of Kevin Bosio (drums) and Daniel Gava (guitar), ANTRVM now features a powerful and aggressive lineup alongside Victor Cutrale (vocals), Victor Henrique (guitar), and Bruno Nicolozzi (bass). This new configuration has driven a significant musical evolution.

“On this EP, we focused on brutality. While Defiler explored darker themes, this time we brought in more extreme elements that reflect the concept of a ‘social death.’ Guitars and bass are lower-tuned, the drums have modern lines, and the vocals are far more extreme,” explains guitarist Victor Henrique.

The Social Death theme picks up where Defiler left off but shifts the perspective from the individual to the collective.

“If Defiler was about individualism, Social Death tackles the collective—this sick society driven by distorted ideologies, human consumption in the job market, and dysfunction within family structures,” says vocalist Victor Cutrale.

With sharp lyrics, visceral metaphors, and heavy production by Brendan, the EP stands as a brutal portrait of contemporary social alienation.

The opening track, “Meat Dumplings,” is an eerie folk-style intro performed by Yohan Kisser (former guitarist of the band), evoking a morbid atmosphere that hints at a cannibalistic family — like a sonic version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It is followed by “The Way Of The Saw,” the EP’s first single and music video, which openly criticizes everyday violence and the hypocrisy of people who hide their impulses behind masks of normality.

“We play with the idea that psychopaths and terrible people wear masks of normality. Who would suspect the friendly neighbor?” comments Victor Henrique.

The second single, “Sombria,” stands out for its bold concept: drawing a parallel between the cruelty of the job market and the preparation of the French delicacy Ortolan — a small bird, also known as Sombria, drowned in brandy, cooked, and eaten whole under a veil of guilt. Musically, the track leans into a more groovy and paced feel, without losing its aggression.

“That’s our life. We’re drowned by professional demands, crushed by the system’s gears until there’s nothing left,” explains Victor Cutrale.

The EP also includes “Deliverance,” which denounces the human drive to dominate nature in the name of profit and false progress, and (dis)Function,* a painful reflection on physical and psychological abuse within family environments, where toxic relationships erode self-esteem and perpetuate cycles of violence.

Social Death was produced by acclaimed Brazilian producer Wagner Meirinho (Torture Squad, Scars, among others), mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning American producer Brendan Duffey, with drum recording by Adriano Daga and cover artwork by Márcia Gava.

Formed in 2020 by Victor Cutrale (ex-Furia Inc) and Victor Henrique, ANTRVM blends elements of groove, thrash, death metal, and metalcore with a strong influence from horror cinema. Throughout their career, the band has shared the stage with names such as Project46, Imphuria, and Hatematter, establishing themselves as one of the most intense and visceral rising acts in Brazilian metal.
